Release Powder Technical
Data
SUPERSTONE RELEASE
AGENT is a clear or pigmented water repellent powder material that
forms a moisture barrier between the Stamping Tools and the fresh
concrete, facilitating the release of the Mats. It is a dry shake
material applied directly on top of the Color Hardener prior to
stamping.
APPLICATION/COVERAGE
Release agent is to be applied only after trowelling has been completed
and after all water has left the surface. The desired spread rate
of the release powder is 30 pounds every 1000 square feet. The use
of a dust mask is required to prevent inhalation. Before broadcasting
the release, empty half of the pail's content into a clean, dry
container and aerate material to loosen any compacting before spreading
onto surface.
To determine
the time to apply Release: Using your fist, roll your knuckle
on the surface of the colored concrete. When none of the colored
concrete comes off on your fist, broadcast the release powder evenly
over the concrete surface where you are going to place the next
few Mats. In order to ensure even coloring, try to use the same
amount of Release Powder over the complete installation. Allow for
Release Powder to dry on the textured designed surface for three
to four days.
FINISHING
After three to four days, remove the release powder with a pressure
washer with approximately 2500 psi. Starting with lower pressure,
remove the excess release color without washing it off completely.
Washing off the grout lines and deeper indentations with a quicker
action than the highlights will allow the darker color release to
remain and increase your antiquing effect. SuperStone Clear Concrete
Sealer must be applied after pressure washing when the concrete
is thoroughly dried.
ADVANTAGES
Clear Release can be used to accomplish a uniform color. Pigmented
Release agents give a rich looking antique effect. There are various
combinations of colors that will give the two tone effect by accenting
the highlights. A darker color applied over the color hardener recesses
into the grout lines and deepens the textures.
SAFETY
PRECAUTIONS
Wear a dust mask. May cause eye and skin irritation. Avoid contact
with eyes and prolonged contact with skin. In the event of contact
with eyes, flush immediately with tepid water for at least 15 minutes
and obtain medical attention. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN.
